TRAVEL DIARY: PRAGUE

-ITA-

Hey there, I'm back! And after a week spent in Prague (and a few days to sort things and ideas out), let's start with the posts dedicated to my last travel.

Prague is a small city inhabited of very kind and nice people, definitely very interesting from many points of view,

beginning with its architecture: a strange mixture of Gothic and Liberty, with some Baroque and Romanesque touches. The palaces, as well as the churches, are all different, each decorated in its own way and all sticky, and the sidewalks are in many cases decorated as well with mosaic tile, which makes even just walk through the streets of the city a very curious experience.
This is a city that in my opinion should be visited at least once in the winter and once in the summer, because it completely changes! And it's lovely in both seasons!
I didn’t imagine that in summer it could be so pretty and charming!

Obviously there are also many sites to visit (we'll talk about this later) and almost every point of interest can be reached on foot in no more than a quarter of an hour: the only things a bit further away are the Metronome (which unfortunately was under renovation and we could not visit ...) and the TV antenna (which you can climb to enjoy a beautiful view of Prague), both of which can be reached safely by the public transportation, which are punctual, fast and clean.
But even if you don’t want to get to the antenna, Prague is so full of towers and bell towers that you can climb, that you will not have hard time finding another spot to enjoy the view.

Another important thing to know is that may be tremendous temperature fluctuations during the day: already in winter you can pass from cold to freezing, but in the summer it is easy to have differences of 10 ° C or more between the noon and evening, and layering is definitely not enough, it is really necessary something heavy to carry behind, also because (it could happens as could not but) it's easy that if the weather gets over, temperature suddenly falls.
The locals do not seem to mind us but the first evenings and on the only afternoon when it drizzled a bit we had to run to the hotel to pick up sweaters and jackets.

To end, about the food: traditional dishes provide meat cooked in many ways, and are good but nothing very fanciful, gingerbread instead is very very tasty (I didn liked it before... and now i do know why!) and its curious that beer costs less water, but much less, and there is an infinite choice of it everywhere!
